WHAT IS REIKI? - ARTICLE 1

Reiki is a system of energy healing which originated from Japan. It was discovered by a Japanese Buddhist monk, Dr Mikao Usui, in the 1890’s, when he was on a religious pilgrimage to Mount Kurama outside Kyoto.

The Japanese word “reiki” translates as “Universal life force energy.”

The connection to Universal life force energy, promotes physical, emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual healing.

Reiki energy vibrates powerfully at the high frequency of unconditional love, and it is this current which can remove stagnant or blocked energy and assist with healing on an energetic level. As the energetic body is restored to health, healing may also occur in the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual bodies.

To use and practise Reiki, you need to become attuned to it. The ability to do Reiki is simply transferred from the teacher to the student through a process called an attunement that takes place during a Reiki class. There are three levels of attunement.

Reiki practitioners use the Universal life energy they have been attuned to, to promote natural healing. In this sense they act as a conduit, and they allow the Universal Life force energy to flow through them to the recipient. So healers are not using their own energy to heal others. They are merely acting as a channel.

Reiki energy flows from divine source, into the reiki practitioner, and out through the healer’s hands.

I actually believe that Reiki can work better on animals than it can on people, because with their natural ability to tune into the energy around them, and not carry the blocks that people have, it is an easier process.

Reiki has an intelligence of its own, and it is not down to the practitioner to determine where the reiki goes or how it should be experienced. The practitioner has to release their ego and their desire to control outcomes, just asking for the reiki to be utilised for the highest good of the recipient.  The practitioner is just a conduit for the reiki energy to flow.

What the ego wants is very different to the needs and desires of the soul, and reiki healing very much works at the soul level.

As you use reiki more and more, the higher vibrational energies become more accessible, and your spiritual gifts start to come to the surface.

Reiki can be used when you are in the physical space of the recipient, or from a distance using a photograph (or some other form which attaches you to the energy of the recipient). Through Quantum Science experiments, it is being proven that time and space are not quite what we believe them to be, and energy can not only travel over infinite distances, but it can also be carried forwards and backwards in time, because time isn’t linear.

Reiki, like prayers and meditation, can also be empowered by the more people who send it. I have certainly found this to be true and have witnessed some very dramatic things happening when people join forces to send healing.
