You can't fool an animal

One of the things that has brought me the greatest pleasure when doing Ac’s and reiki healings, is seeing the big shifts that can happen, not only in an animal’s behavior, but in the relationship between Human and guardian.
So why is this? Could it just be a lucky coincidence?
Well having witnessed this on numerous occasions, it is clearly no coincidence. I do think that the animal understands on an energetic level that they have been given a voice, and their Guardian wants to understand them at a deeper level.
I also think that when the Guardian does understand what is going on for their animal and appreciates what they might be struggling with, then it shifts something for them too. It may increase their empathy, understanding and compassion, all things which the animal, with their sensitive receptors, picks up on effortlessly. They respond instantly to this shift in energy, resulting in an almost miraculous transformation.
One of the things that we don’t really appreciate is how incredibly intuitive our animals are. They have never closed down this sixth sense ability the way we have. So animals not only read our energy, but they are also very much aware of our emotions, our feelings towards them and our intentions.
Very recently, I experienced this very thing with a cat. Her Guardian has given me permission to tell her story.

Willow was fostered by Jill about nine months ago. During this time, although Jill had grown fond of her, she just couldn’t love her as much as her cat who had transitioned eighteen months ago. She felt that Willow just didn’t have the same love to give her as her previous cat. Although there were times when she seemed to enjoy a cuddle, there were more times when she would just walk away or even seem fearful. Additionally, she also worried that Willow was unhappy, as she often cried.
So Jill believed that they weren’t the right people for her, and Willow would perhaps prefer being with an old lady again (her last owner had been an elderly lady who had moved into a care home).
It was crunch time! The RSPCA wanted Jill to make a decision to either offer Willow a permanent home, or to give her up. Jill was torn and really didn’t know what to do. Although she didn’t love her like her old cat, she still cared about what happened to her.
Jill asked me to do a reading, to see what Willow wanted to say.
Looking at Willow’s photo, I was immediately struck by Willow’s sweet, gentle energy - So much so that I would have offered to take her on myself, if I had been in a position to do so.
Willow explained that when she cried, she was just asking to go outside, as she missed feeling the earth under her feet and the warm sun on her back. I later found out from Jill that she is not allowed to let Willow outside while she is fostering her. This privilege can only be granted when Willow is taken on permanently.
Not surprisingly, she really felt Jill’s ambivalence towards her. Why should she give her the gift of unconditional love and adoration, if Jill can’t return the favour? She was also very aware that she could lose her home at any moment, so it was difficult for her to feel safe and secure.
And as for preferring to be with an old lady, this is what she had to say:-
“There is no such thing as a right person or a wrong person. Anyone can be the right person if they so choose. It is all about their energy and their thinking, not about whether they are old or young, male or female. And why would I want to go to an old person anyway, knowing that they may be taken away, leaving me homeless again. I really don’t want to go through being uprooted again.”
When I later discussed the reading with Jill, I pointed out that those times when she was loving and affectionate, she was revealing the true part of herself; a glimpse into the cat she had the potential to be. All she needed was for Jill to commit to her.
So Jill had a tough decision to make. She still felt that she could never love her like her old cat, and this didn’t seem fair on Willow. But at the same time, she appreciated her sweet, gentle nature and she cared deeply what happened to her.
So Jill slept on it, gave a lot of thought to it, and made her decision. A permanent home would be offered.
When the heart opens, miracles are invited in.
The day after the reading, Jill noticed that Willow seemed more loving towards her. The day after, it was even more noticeable. When I spoke to Jill a week later, she declared that Willow was a changed cat. Her love and devotion was off the scale.
This is a great story and demonstrates just how much our thoughts, emotions and intentions can affect the behavior of our animals. When we open our heart to them, they will inevitably open up to us. Animals really are compasses to our inner world! More importantly, they help us locate our own loving heart, reminding us that we just need to activate it. They truly are our greatest teachers!
